The Courses
The Santa Barbara Half Marathon presented by HOKA and SB Independent 5K course highlight two world-renowned roads on the American Riviera – Cabrillo Blvd & State Street!
Participants will start along Santa Barbara’s spectacular Cabrillo Blvd on the waterfront before winding through downtown and around local landmarks Alice Keck Park Memorial Garden and Kid’s World at Alameda Park. To cap off the journey, you’ll descend down the historic State Street promenade for a one-of-a-kind fast Half Marathon and 5K finish.
With clear air & closed roads, whether you’re looking for your next Strava segment trophy or simply enjoying a good sweat, you’ve come to the best in the west.

Half Marathon time limit is set at 3 hours and 30 minutes or approximately 16 minute per mile.
Strollers are discouraged due to the nature of State Street and two-way participant traffic. If you are experienced running with a stroller and choose to participate with one, you must be mindful of other participants and give them the right away. We encourage you to start and position yourself throughout the race with the least amount of congestion. Complaints may forfeit your participation in future years.
The Half Marathon course is USATF Certified, No. CA22027TEB.
Half Marathon Pace Team
Pacer groups will be provided in 2023 in partnership with On Pace for the following finishing times: 1:30, 1:40, 1:50, 2:00, 2:10, 2:20, 2:30 & 2:40. Stay tuned for more!
