Supporting the Community

Santa Barbara Running Association: Building Community One Stride at a Time

Since 1948, the Santa Barbara Running Association (SBRA) has been at the heart of our local running community, championing the joy of movement and the power of connection. Through premier races and special events, SBRA celebrates athletes of all levels—from first-time runners to seasoned elites—while fostering a culture of growth, achievement, and community spirit.

SBRA plays a vital role in supporting youth and grassroots programs across Santa Barbara. From youth cross country, track & field, after school programs, and initiatives to maintaining the beloved Elings Park trails and uplifting high school athletes, our impact runs deep. We bring runners together year-round through signature events like the New Year’s Resolution Run 10K & 5K, the July 4th Semana Nautica Trail Race, the Fox Fall XC 5K, and monthly community runs & socials and so much more.

Driven by a mission to inspire and empower the next generation, SBRA offers free race entries to junior members and ensures that no child is left behind by providing complimentary memberships to those in need.

As a volunteer-led nonprofit, 100% of your support helps to keep these programs thriving. Every contribution, whether financial or through volunteerism, directly expands access to running, strengthens our youth initiatives, and helps shape a healthier, more connected Santa Barbara—today and for generations to come.
